چکیده

This research deals with a production-inventory problem consisting of three-stage tree-type singleproducer multi-distributor and multi-retailer supply chain network where a model has been developed for achieving the lowest total cost for operating a supply chain system with allowable shortage. In this research, the shortage is assumed to occur in a form of backorder. The refrigerator manufacturing can suitably be used to illustrate the scenario which makes the situation more rational and realistic. By assumptions, the customers will not go somewhere else, the cost of lost sale is not included in this case. The total cost of this tree-type distributive supply chain system is comprised of setup costs and holding costs at all echelons, and the backorder cost at retailer level only. A replenishment policy is sought to operate the system at a minimum cost. The problem is formulated as an unconstrained mixedinteger programming problem and a newly developed doubly hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm is adopted as the solution procedure. The solutions which determine the desired replenishment policy for the producer, distributors, and retailers are obtained to minimize the total system cost. A sensitivity analysis is performed to evaluate the outcome of the proposed solution procedure presented in this research. Numerical results are generated to demonstrate the solution procedure, and future research is indicated for further study. & 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Integrated Procurement, Production and Delivery Scheduling in a Generalized three Stage Supply Chain

In this research, we investigate a three-stage supply chain with one supplier, several manufacturers and multiple retailers where the supplier provides a common raw material to each manufacturer, who in turn uses a single stage production facility to convert it into final products that are delivered at fixed lot sizes to retailers. An integrated economic procurement, production, and delivery mo...

A System Dynamics model for joint upstream and downstream partner selection in a supply chain consisting of suppliers and retailers

Abstract Firms no longer compete as autonomous entities and prefer to joinin a supply chain alliance to take advantage of highly competitive business situation. Supply chain coordination has a greatimpact on Firm’sstrategic partnering and success in competitive business environment. In this paper, we propose a system dynamics simulation model for strategic partner selection in supply chai...

Integrated optimization of safety stock and transportation capacity

We consider a segment of a supply chain comprising an inventory system and a transportation system that cooperate in the fulfillment of stochastic customer orders. The inventory system is operated under a discrete time (s, q) policy with backorders. In a system of this kind accumulated backorders introduce lumpiness of transportation demand into the system. We study the connection between the s...

A Queuing Model for Stochastic Location‌-inventory Problem with Waiting Cost Considerations

This paper presents a three-level supply chain model which includes single supplier, several distribution centers and sets of retailers. For this purpose, by adopting the queuing approach, a mixed nonlinear integer programming model is formulated. The proposed model follows minimizing the total cost of the system by determining: 1) the number and location of distribution centers between candida...

Queueing Inventory System in a Two-level Supply Chain with One-for-One Ordering Policy

Consider a two-level inventory system consisting of one supplier and one retailer. The retailer faces a Poisson demand with a known rate and applies base stock (one-for-one ordering) policy. That is, his inventory position is set to a pre-determined level, so the demand pattern is transferred exactly to the supplier. The supplier has an inventory system and a service unit with exponentially dis...
